time is an odd thing that never seems to pan out the way we suppose it will. it is always moving too fast or too slow, flying by or creeping along. we praise it when it works in our favor and curse it when it doesn't, swearing that next time will be different or last time was better.

there are moments though, when time slowly sneaks away into summer air and takes a rest for a while, leaving the witnesses to soak, absorb and wonder, free from ticking clocks or spinning cogs. moments like floating through warm sea water as it reflects the painted sunset in the sky above. like walking through the avenues of salt lake city, sunlight slipping through the cracks in the roof of wise green leaves overhead. moments like sobbing into your mother's shoulder, sucking in air like its gold and letting thick emotion drip out your eyes, nose, mouth, and heart. i've had a few of those moments in the past few weeks. i've been blessed with those moments.
