I am confident that this house had a life, soul, spirit, personality of its own. the 8th member of my family, following parley of course. a completely enchanted home. took care of me, watched me grow, witnessed the good and the bad. kept me safe, kept me warm. christmas mornings. summer afternoons. friends that came and went and came. a lot of love. a lot of hair tugging, button pushing, shouting, tears, slammed doors, and lectures. but more love. pancakes, dress ups, gingerbread houses, skinny dipping, singing, praying, eating, laughing, basement kisses, movie nights, sunday dinners. enchanted.

happy pioneer day! if youre not mormon and/or youre not from utah, you probably had no idea that the 24th of july is a holiday. but it is, so celebrate. i made a goal at the beginning of the summer to learn to quilt (this may seem like an odd goal, but i have a lot of spare time) and it seemed appropriate to finish my first project on this hallowed day. im not sure how my pioneer ancestors would feel about my electric sewing machine and synthetic batting, but im sure theyd be awful proud of my color choices.

it was over 100 degrees today. tomorrows sposed to be even hotter. dang thats hot. i spent most of the day poolside but took a break from the sun for a bit to run some errands. picked up some quilt batting from joanns fabric. grocery shopped at trader joes. came home and my mom stuck a mystery baby in my arms to babysit while she taught a swimming lesson. so there i am in my kitchen, baby on my hip, putting away frozen chicken and trailmix and hollering at parley to stop barking. i am way too young for that.
this is cool. i wish i thought of it first.

my personal favorite. i like nice shaped eyebrows too. so does kait devine. we have that in common.

i've never understood or supported the male fascination with mustaches. i believe they should be a distant past-time. but i like salvador dali, and i like this quote:

"Since I don't smoke, I decided to grow a mustache - it is better for the health. However, I always carried a jewel-studded cigarette case in which, instead of tobacco, were carefully placed several mustaches, Adolphe Menjou style. I offered them politely to my friends: "Mustache? Mustache? Mustache?" Nobody dared to touch them. This was my test regarding the sacred aspect of mustaches."
